Preventative maintenance aims to reduce the chance of a breakdown and ensure your Honda operates efficiently. As your Honda dealer, we want to tell you about some examples of this type of maintenance.

Examples of Preventative Maintenance Available at Your Honda Dealer
Oil Change
Oil is the lifeblood of your engine. Its constant movement through the engine cools numerous hot components as it passes over them. It reduces friction damage by surrounding components with a friction-resistant covering. This allows components that depend on friction to work effectively to glide against each other and prevent damage. In addition, additives in the oil break down potential engine blockages and reduce rust buildup.
Older oil becomes thicker and slower, removing most of its benefits. This bad oil reduces your engine efficiency and can cause problems like increased wear and tear on components or even cause engine blockages. We prevent these problems by draining the old oil, removing the old filter, and replacing it with a new one. We then refill your engine with fresh oil.
Engine Filter Replacement
Your engine requires enormous quantities of air for combustion, and all this air passes through the engine air filter. This filter is positioned just inside the radiator grille, and it traps dirt and other debris carried by the air. Only clean air passes into the engine where it mixes with the fuel before being drawn into the cylinders to produce combustion.
The air filter will become blocked in time, which restricts airflow into the engine. The lack of air will turn your engine fuel-rich. A fuel-rich engine can’t produce efficient combustion, and most of the fuel will be wasted as it’s dumped into the exhaust system. In addition, spark plugs and ignition coils will wear out faster due to the heady atmosphere. We can quickly replace the clogged air filter, and engine performance will return to normal.
Fluid Checks
Your engine contains many different fluids, and each fluid has a specific role in your Honda’s health and efficiency. Some of the fluids are engine coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and oil. Engine coolant absorbs engine heat and transports this heat to the radiator for removal. Transmission fluid provides the hydraulic power that enables the gears to shift, and brake fluid provides hydraulic power that forces the braking system to engage.
As time passes, each of these fluids becomes less efficient, and some can even damage your car’s systems. Coolant, for example, becomes corrosive and can cause rust and damage to the cooling system. Transmission fluid can overheat and burn, preventing the gears from shifting until it’s replaced. Our technicians will check the quality and level of each of these fluids, and replace them when necessary.
