1. Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden

The 400-acre Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Admission is free, and the park offers shady picnic tables and restrooms, making this a comfortable spot for picnicking. You may also want to plan on doing some hiking at the park, which offers trails and eight tropical gardens.
Located at 45-680 Luluku Road in Kane’ohe, this botanical garden is just a 20-minute drive from Waipahu.

2. Aiea Bay State Recreation Area

If you want to dine with a view, head to Aiea Bay State Recreation Area, which overlooks Pearl Harbor. This free park offers picnic tables, a picnic pavilion, a water fountain, and restrooms. The Pearl Harbor Bike Path runs through this park, so you may want to bring your bicycles along.
Located on McGrew Loop in Honolulu, Aiea Bay State Recreation Area is a 10-minute drive from Waipahu. In addition to your blanket and food, you’ll want to pack insect repellant, sunscreen, your picnic basket, and maybe even a cooler. 3. Kapi’olani Park

The Kapi’olani Regional Park, located at the east end of Waikiki, is one of Hawaii’s oldest and largest parks. This park is the perfect spot to watch the sunset, so you might want to consider an evening picnic.

4. Magic Island Lagoon

Magic Island Lagoon is a peninsula in Ala Moana Beach Park that offers seawalls and a lagoon. The water is calm enough to swim in, and there are shady picnic tables that offer the ideal setting for a casual beach picnic.
