1. Frida Taqueria

Named after the famed artist Frida Kahlo, this restaurant on 94-307 Farrington Highway strives to create dishes that embody the soul of the Mexican people and culture. The grande burrito with chorizo and Frida taco supreme, filled with juicy steak and shrimp, are particularly great examples.
If you want to sample traditional Mexican soups and stews, Frida Taqueria offers hearty servings of menudo and pozole. The restaurant is also known for its amazingly fresh salsas and pico de gallo, so be sure to include them with your meal!

2. Mekiko Cantina

Those preferring a more upscale dining experience should give Mekiko Cantina a try! Located on 92-1047 Olani Street in Ko Olina Center, it boasts a varied menu that ranges from classics that include huevos rancheros and enchiladas to unique dishes like kalua carnitas. This dish features tender pieces of kalua pork, roasted salsa, and guacamole. Steak lovers will be tempted by the 12-ounce New York steak with homemade ranchero sauce.
Every day from 3 PM to 5 PM, Mekiko’s happy hour menu features a variety of draft beers and wine by the glass. You can also order California-style street tacos, chimichangas, or a 10-inch cheese quesadilla. Please remember to drink responsibly and avoid driving after consuming alcohol.

3. La Birria

La Birria is a popular food truck that has made its permanent home at Pearlridge Center on 98-1005 Moanalua Road. Owned by Mexico City native and award-winning chef Arturo Silva, this establishment’s claim to fame is its astonishingly spicy hellfire tacos. After its 24-hour ghost pepper-spiced marinade, the beef is cooked in a rich consommé at low heat for 12 hours, infusing it with tons of flavor.
Also on the menu is the birria queso pack, consisting of three tacos and consommé served on the side. Birria saimin adds an interesting Hawaiian twist by mixing firm, yet chewy noodles with the same liquid used to cook the meat. Thanks to the Honda Ridgeline’s durable interior, you can enjoy your order in the parking lot right next to La Birria.
